The Gay Games represents the world’s largest all-inclusive sporting event, bringing together athletes from diverse backgrounds. From 27 June to 5 July 2026, València, Spain will host over 10,000 athletes from more than 60 countries in a celebration of diversity, inclusion and athletic excellence.

About Gay Games 2026
València, Spain will host Gay Games 2026 from 27 June to 5 July, welcoming athletes from across the globe. This landmark event combines world-class sporting competition with cultural celebration, creating an unparalleled platform for inclusion and diversity.
The Gay Games basketball competition will feature teams from more than 60 countries competing at the elite L’Alqueria del Basket facility – one of Europe’s premier basketball venues. Beyond the court, participants will experience the vibrant culture of València while connecting with the global LGBTQI+ community.
Previous Gay Games have generated significant economic impact while providing participants with life-changing experiences. The 2026 event promises to be the most inclusive and exciting yet.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Gay Games?
The Gay Games is the world’s largest all-inclusive sporting event. Similar to the Olympics, LGBTQIA+ athletes and allies from around the world come together for a week of sport and celebration. In 2026, the Games will feature 38 sports in València, Spain.
How will the basketball tournament work?
The NGBA is the governing body. Teams will play 5–6 round robin games over 3–4 days, followed by medal rounds starting day 4 or 5.
Which venue will the games be held at?
All basketball games will be played at L’Alqueria del Basket, an elite training and game facility in València, Spain.
How much does it cost to participate?
The estimated cost per player is $3,500-$4,500 AUD, including registration, accommodation, team uniform, and team events. This does not include flights or personal expenses. We offer various payment plans and fundraising opportunities to help manage costs.
What skill level is required?
We have teams for all skill levels, from competitive to recreational. The most important requirements are enthusiasm, team spirit, and commitment to training sessions.
How often will teams train before the event?
Teams will train monthly from January 2026, with frequency increasing as we approach the event. Additional optional training sessions will be available.
Is financial assistance available?
Yes, we offer various support options and can help players access funding opportunities. We’re committed to making this experience accessible to all interested players.
